Grand Seiko

Grand Seiko began in 1960 as Seiko's flagship mechanical line, built to out-accurate the Swiss chronometer standard, and became an independent global brand in 2017 after decades sold only within Japan. Its 1999 Spring Drive movement pairs a mechanical mainspring with a quartz-regulated glide-wheel escapement for a continuously sweeping seconds hand, and hand-applied Zaratsu polishing plus dial patterns drawn from Mount Iwate's snow and light remain the brand's signatures.
