The Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGV223 enlarges the brand's standard quartz dress design to a 40 mm steel case, giving the applied indexes and dauphine hands on its black dial more room without changing the line's low, 10 mm profile. It runs caliber 9F82, part of the 9F family Seiko introduced in 1993 with several features unusual in quartz watches: a twin pulse control motor drives the oversized hands with two stepped signals per second instead of one, and a backlash auto-adjust mechanism, a hairspring-loaded gear riding the train, reduces backlash in the seconds-hand drive.
