The Gruen Veri-Thin Pan American' is the 24-hour-dial pilot's watch the Gruen Watch Company of Cincinnati began producing for Pan American Airways crews in 1943, built on the slim Veri-Thin movement that had carried the company's name since 1904 and sold to the public after the Second World War, when its full 24-hour dial made it a distinctive civilian piece. British GQ, quoting Queers prop master Matt Marks, records a 1944 example on a brown leather strap chosen for Drew Starkey's ex-serviceman in Queer (2024) because of the real Lewis Marker's time in military intelligence. (British GQ) The photograph is the prop master's own picture of that watch on set.
