The Hamilton Dodson is a late-1930s men's dress watch from the Lancaster maker, produced from 1938 to 1948 and among the largest of the tubular-lugged models Hamilton introduced that decade. It cased the 17-jewel manual-wind 987A movement in a 10-karat gold-filled tonneau case with a high-polished, slightly stepped bezel and sides, offered with either an applied-gold-numeral or black-enamel dial; it sold for $40 new in 1938. (Hamilton Chronicles) Hamilton's own historical film-credit page places a Dodson on Alec Baldwin's Juan Trippe in The Aviator (2004) without specifying which dial execution.
