The Heuer Monaco 1133B is the blue-dial execution of the square, water-resistant chronograph Heuer launched in 1969, and the watch Steve McQueen wore as Michael Delaney in Le Mans (1971). Inside is the Calibre 11, among the first automatic chronograph movements, whose construction puts the winding crown on the left of the case while the chronograph pushers stay on the right: the layout is the reference's most immediate identifier. Two white square registers sit against the blue sunburst dial with a date at six.
The watch is signed Heuer, not TAG Heuer, the firm having been bought by Techniques d'Avant Garde only in 1985. Sotheby's sold McQueen's own screen-worn example, case no. 160'304, in December 2024, accompanied by a special steel bracelet fitted for it during the production.
