The IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph descends from the 1994 Fliegerchronograph, references 3705 and 3706, IWC's first mechanical pilot's chronograph and the watch that established the modern Pilot's Watch line's instrument-dial look: pump pushers, a triangle-and-dot twelve-o'clock index borrowed from the wartime Mark XI, and a case built around the Valjoux 7750-based Calibre 79230. Reference 3706 cased the movement in steel; the ceramic-cased 3705 became the Top Gun line's forerunner. IWC has kept a steel Pilot's Watch Chronograph in continuous production since, updating the case and movement generation while preserving the instrument dial.
