An Illinois watch is a pocket watch from the Illinois Watch Company of Springfield, Illinois, founded in 1870 and run from 1878 by the Bunn family, whose name went on its best-known railroad grade, the Bunn Special; Hamilton bought the firm at the end of the 1920s and closed the Springfield factory in 1932. (Wikipedia) Two novels name it: the solid-gold Bunn Special that Gladius Blade's father gives him in Catriona Flynt's One Man's Treasure, and the gold watch with the factory engraved inside its case that a horsetrader shows a bartender in Philip Kimball's Harvesting Ballads.
