The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classique reference 250.8.86 is a clean, mid-size version documented from around 1990 and powered by the hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 846/1. (Montanari, Christie's) A separate unidentified-reference Reverso Classique page covers sightings the sources do not narrow to this execution. It inherits the reversing case Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced in 1931 for British army polo players in India: the case slides in its cradle and flips face-down, presenting a solid metal back to the mallet. That mechanism became one of the defining Art Deco watch designs, a rectangle with three horizontal grooves top and bottom. The blank reverse is traditionally left for an engraving, which is part of the watch's sentiment. It is heritage worn quietly, which suits the period register of Mad Men. (Jaeger-LeCoultre)
