Louis Vuitton entered watchmaking in 2002 with the Tambour, the maison's first in-house case design, named for its drum-shaped profile and sharply angled lugs. The automatic Chronographe variant put the maison's monogram canvas-adjacent design language on a genuine Swiss-made mechanical movement rather than a badge-engineered quartz module, with a tri-compax dial, a screw-down crown, and a rotating bezel numbered for a second time zone. Louis Vuitton has since replaced the line with the tourbillon-equipped Tambour Taiko, a different watch built around a different case and movement architecture.
