Vincent Cassel (born 1966, Paris) is a French actor known for a run of intense performances in French genre cinema, from the enraged Vinz in La Haine to the obsessive choreographer Thomas Leroy in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. He played Max in Gilles Mimouni's romantic mystery L'Appartement, a role American critics compared favourably to the 1996 vintage of French thriller his later Hollywood work rarely matched.
