The Omega Speedmaster X-33 is a titanium analog-digital hybrid Omega launched on March 28, 1998, at NASA's Johnson Space Center, shepherded through development by board member and Apollo veteran Thomas Stafford to give astronauts a quartz-driven update to the mechanical Speedmaster Professional. Reference 3290.50.00 runs the quartz calibre 1666, adding a digital ring around its analog dial for mission-elapsed-time tracking to 1,000 days, a chronograph, and alarms; Omega discontinued retail sales in 2006 while space agencies kept using it.
