The Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta Rattrapante (reference PAM00286) is a 500-piece special edition of 2007, made to time the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. Its 44 mm steel case wears the Luminor bridge-lever crown guard over a black Paris-hobnail dial and is water resistant to 100 metres. The point of the watch is its movement, the COSC-certified automatic OP XVIII with a double column wheel and a split-seconds (rattrapante) chronograph: two superimposed centre hands, one of which stops to read a split and then springs forward to catch the running hand, so a sailor can time the intervals of a regatta start.
