The Richard Mille RM 052 Tourbillon Skull is the 2012 watch that made the skull the movement rather than a decoration: the grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges of the manually wound caliber RM 052 are machined into a skull whose upper and lower jaws grip the ruby of the one-minute tourbillon, with four crossed-bone bridges fixing the skull to the tripartite tonneau case. (Richard Mille) Production was limited to 21 pieces: 15 in a 42.7 mm × 50 mm grade 5 titanium case assembled with 20 spline screws, plus gem-set gold examples, with a 48-hour power reserve and 50 m water resistance.
