The Rolex Datejust 16030 is a 36 mm steel Datejust produced from 1977 to 1988, identifiable by its engine-turned bezel and acrylic Cyclops crystal on the classic Oyster case. It was the first Datejust built around the caliber 3035, Rolex's first automatic movement with a quickset date, letting the wearer correct the calendar directly at the crown rather than winding the hands through repeated midnight cycles; the movement also raised the beat rate to 28,800 vph for roughly 42 hours of reserve. The reference sold on either a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet with a choice of engine-turned, fluted, or smooth bezels, occupying the everyday, all-steel rung of Rolex's Datejust line through most of the 1980s.
