The Rolex Submariner 6538, the "Big Crown" Submariner, is the original James Bond Rolex: a guardless Oyster case with an oversized 8 mm Brevet winding crown and gilt dial, rated to 200 m, produced in two- and four-line dial executions in the late 1950s. Sean Connery wore one through the first four Eon films, from Dr. No (1962) to Thunderball (1965), on leather straps and on the famously undersized striped fabric strap of Goldfinger rather than a bracelet.
