The Suunto Spartan is the GPS multisport line Suunto launched in 2016, spanning Ultra, Sport and Trainer models whose sensor sets differ; the reference carried here is a Spartan Sport Wrist HR, the version that shipped in spring 2017 with an optical heart-rate sensor added to the chest-belt-only Spartan Sport. A colour touchscreen backed by physical buttons drives a large library of preloaded sport modes, GPS fixes position to 1 m resolution, and the wrist sensor reads heart rate without a belt. Suunto rates the watch to 100 m and quotes 10 to 40 hours of GPS recording from its rechargeable lithium-ion cell, depending on the fix interval, with syncing over Bluetooth Smart. (Suunto)
