The Universal Genève Tri-Compax debuted in 1944 at the Basel fair as Universal's 50th-anniversary flagship, adding a triple calendar and moonphase to the existing Compax chronograph line. Vintage examples ran hand-wound, column-wheel chronograph calibres built by ébauche maker Martel and shared with Zenith's own chronographs of the era, most often the compact 12-ligne calibre 281 in smaller cases and the larger 14-ligne calibre 285 in bigger ones, both offered in Tri-Compax (full calendar and moonphase) form.
