The Casio CA-50 is the calculator watch Casio introduced in 1984, a resin digital with a grid of tiny membrane keys below the display that work an eight-digit calculator on the wrist — a piece of the early-1980s moment when Casio was folding pocket-electronics into watches and a wrist calculator read as futuristic rather than quaint. It is the direct forerunner of the better-known CA-53W that replaced it in 1988, and the two are easily confused on screen: the CA-50 is the one from 1984–1987, the original, while the CA-53W is the near-identical successor.
