John Carroll Lynch (born 1963, Boulder, Colorado) is an American character actor and director, first widely noticed as Norm Gunderson in the Coen brothers' Fargo and since then a fixture in unsettling supporting work: prime suspect Arthur Leigh Allen in David Fincher's Zodiac, Twisty the Clown in American Horror Story, and Walt Kowalski's barber in Gran Torino.
