Zodiac Sea Wolf
More actions
The Zodiac Sea Wolf is the dive watch Zodiac launched in 1953, alongside the Rolex Submariner and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms rather than in their wake: screw-back steel case, rotating elapsed-time bezel, automatic movement, and a luminous dial meant to be read through water. Zodiac kept the name through the 1970s across materially different executions, from early bakelite bezels to the 20-atmosphere automatics of the mid-1960s with a date at three. (Wikipedia) What carries it beyond horology is the dial furniture: Zodiac's house emblem, a circle quartered by a cross whose arms run past the rim, is the figure the Zodiac Killer signed his letters with, which is why suspect Arthur Leigh Allen's Sea Wolf became evidence rather than an accessory.
