Kyle MacLachlan (born 1959) is an American actor closely identified with the work of David Lynch, who cast him as the lead in Dune (1984), as the curious innocent Jeffrey Beaumont in Blue Velvet (1986), and as Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks. His later credits include Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives and Portlandia, but the boyish, slightly uncanny quality Lynch drew out remains his signature register.
