Terry Gilliam directed this adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's novel. Set in 1971, Johnny Depp plays journalist Raoul Duke, Thompson's fictional alter ego, who travels to Las Vegas with his attorney Dr. Gonzo, played by Benicio del Toro, on a magazine assignment that dissolves into a drug-fuelled odyssey through the city's casinos.
