First Gentleman (総理の夫) is a 2021 Japanese theatrical comedy adapted from Maha Harada's novel of the same name. Kei Tanaka plays Hiyori Soma, an ornithologist whose wife Rinko (Miki Nakatani), leader of a minority opposition party, becomes Japan's first female prime minister while he is completely out of contact on a ten-day bird-watching trip to a remote island. Hiyori returns home to find himself abruptly cast as the country's first-ever first gentleman, a role with no precedent and no rulebook, and the film follows his fumbling, well-meaning attempts to support his wife's government while staying true to his own quiet obsessions. Hayato Kawai directed from a screenplay by Sanae Matsuda and Kenmei Sugihara, and Toei and Nikkatsu released the film theatrically on 23 September 2021. (Wikipedia)

Jackroad's costume-loan archive credits an IWC Portofino Ref.IW356501 to Kei Tanaka for the production, identifying the reference the retailer supplied for his lead role as the country's reluctant first gentleman.
