Mike Hodges's 1980 space opera, produced by Dino De Laurentiis from Alex Raymond's comic strip and scored by Queen, has the New York Jets quarterback Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones) and the travel agent Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) carried off to the planet Mongo by Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol) to face Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow), Princess Aura (Ornella Muti), Prince Barin (Timothy Dalton) and Prince Vultan (Brian Blessed); Universal released it in the United States on 5 December 1980. Worn by Sam J. Jones as Flash Gordon. Flash wears a steel automatic chronograph on a bracelet that an Uhrforum member identified in June 2022 as a Seiko 6139 "Pogue", posting two frames: one of Flash in his FLASH jersey leaning over a strapped-in Dale Arden, the watch catching the light with a warm, yellow-toned dial, and one in the Arborian swamp with the watch on its steel bracelet at his cuff. The frames show the cushion case and bracelet but not the register, the bezel or the case back, so the 6139 family is recorded, and the yellow-dial 6139-6005 that carries the Pogue nickname stays the member's reading.
