Kagefumi (影踏み) is a 2019 Japanese crime drama directed by Tetsuo Shinohara, adapting Hideo Yokoyama's novel of the same name, the author's own choice to center a criminal protagonist rather than the police-procedural leads of his other work. Singer-songwriter Masayoshi Yamazaki stars, in his first leading film role in fourteen years, as Shuichi Makabe, a career burglar known as a "nobishi" who breaks into homes at night; his late twin brother Keiji (Takumi Kitamura), whose death fifteen years earlier in an attempted murder-suicide still haunts him, and Hisako (Machiko Ono), a woman both brothers loved, tie Makabe's present investigation to that unresolved night. Pistol Takehara plays Sosuke Yoshikawa, a detective and Makabe's childhood friend. Tokyo Theatres released the film theatrically in Japan on 15 November 2019. (Eiga.com)
