The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Chronograph arrived in 2010 carrying the first chronograph movement TAG Heuer built in volume at its own manufacture. Reference CAR2110 is a 41 mm polished steel case with a fixed steel and aluminium bezel, a black dial and 100 m of water resistance; the automatic Calibre 1887 is an integrated column-wheel chronograph of 320 parts. The launch drew public criticism after the brand called the movement designed one hundred per cent in-house and observers matched its architecture to Seiko Instruments' TC78. TAG Heuer's chief executive then confirmed the company had acquired the Seiko patent and intellectual property outright, rescaled and re-engineered the movement, and industrialised production at La Chaux-de-Fonds.
