Watches

Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Madcow Titanium
Worn by Ethan Ruan. Ball Watch's own press release for the film's March 2009 Taiwan release states that Ethan Ruan "wears the BALL Watch Engineer Hydrocarbon Madcow Titanium" performing a high-difficulty driving stunt between two cars in one of the film's four segments. The release describes his role only as a stunt driver; a specialist review corroborates that Ruan plays a movie stuntman opposite flight-attendant girlfriend Alice Tzeng's character, and Letterboxd's own cast listing likewise credits Ruan with no character name, unlike every other principal in the film. (LoveHKFilm; Letterboxd) No second source corroborates the watch itself, but the claim comes from the supplying brand's own release rather than a fan spotting, a stronger single-source class; the identification is recorded as probable rather than confirmed. Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Madcow Titanium
Worn by Lan Cheng-lung as Vincent. The same Ball Watch release states, in the sentence immediately following the Ethan Ruan claim, that "the other male lead, Lan Cheng-lung, also wears the same BALL Watch," describing his role only as "a freewheeling MV director." A specialist review names the segment "Hua Shan 24'," in which a music-video director reconnects with an old flame whose memory of their relationship was erased in a car accident, and Letterboxd's own cast listing independently credits Lan Cheng-lung's role in that segment as "Vincent." (LoveHKFilm; Letterboxd) As with the Ruan row above, the watch identification is a single-source, brand-supplied claim rather than an independently confirmed sighting, so it is recorded as probable. Ball Fireman Night Train
Worn by Van Fan as Cheng. Ball Watch's release separately states that Van Fan, "whose popularity surged on the strength of Cape No. 7," wears the "BALL Watch Fireman Night Train" in the film, "showing off its stylish appeal." A specialist review names the segment "San Sheng You Xing" and describes Van Fan's character standing in for a dying stranger in a phone call meant to comfort the stranger's family, and Letterboxd's own cast listing independently credits the role as "Cheng," opposite Megan Lai as "Yen," in that same segment. (LoveHKFilm; Letterboxd) As with the two rows above, the watch identification rests on a single source, the supplying brand's own release rather than a fan spotting; it is recorded as probable.
