Clint Eastwood directed, produced, scored and stars in this boxing drama from Paul Haggis's screenplay, based on F.X. Toole's Rope Burns: Frankie Dunn, an ageing Los Angeles trainer, reluctantly takes on the amateur Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), with Morgan Freeman as his old friend Eddie "Scrap-Iron" Dupris. Warner Bros. released it on December 15, 2004, and it won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Director, Actress and Supporting Actor. (Wikipedia)

GQ's history of the two-tone "Root Beer" GMT-Master nicknamed for Eastwood says the actor's own watch, after Firefox, Tightrope and In the Line of Fire, "didn't appear on camera again until the Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby in 2004"; Bob's Watches' Paul Altieri describes it as "his steel, not a costume", and the magazine says he is thought to have owned both the 1675/3 and its quickset successor the 16753, without settling which is on screen here.
