The watch belonged to his father Louis and Adam started wearing it after his death, which makes it the film's proof of identity: the same Speedmaster on a twelve-year-old's wrist, where it looks comically oversized, is how the boy works out that the stranger is himself. Hodinkee times the two Adams holding their watches up to each other at 00:13:30, the moment the boy accepts who the stranger is, and a close-up at 00:55:27, when he looks down at the watch resting against the time jet's canopy before choosing to make the jump. From that shot Hodinkee reads the previous-generation Moonwatch on the calibre 1861, with no stepped dial and the older dial text, which suits an heirloom already in the family in 2022. Prop master Dean Eilertson told Hodinkee the watch was never in the script: Reynolds pitched it to director Shawn Levy, Omega delivered four watches, one with a frozen movement for stunts, and the straps were aged differently for each wearer.
