Alejandro Agresti directed this remake of the Korean film Il Mare, written by David Auburn, in which the architect Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves), living in 2004, and the doctor Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock), living in 2006, exchange letters through the mailbox of the same lakeside house; Christopher Plummer plays Alex's father. GQ, reporting the recovery of Reeves's stolen John Wick Submariners, lists his earlier screen Rolexes and says "he wore a ref. 16610 Rolex Sub in The Lake House (2006)"; British GQ's version of the story carries the same list.
