Michael Cimino's directorial debut, a 1974 crime road film for United Artists produced by Clint Eastwood's Malpaso, pairs Eastwood's John "Thunderbolt" Doherty, a bank robber hiding as a Montana preacher, with Jeff Bridges's drifting car thief Lightfoot, who saves him from his former partners Red Leary (George Kennedy) and Eddie Goody (Geoffrey Lewis); the four then reunite to rob the same Montana vault with an anti-tank cannon. Bridges was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. (IMDb; Wikipedia)
Watches
- Lucerne (unidentified model)
- Worn by George Kennedy as Red Leary. Leary's watch, its dial signed Lucerne, is legible in two frames an Uhrforum member posted in April 2019; a second member posted two more frames in 2020 asking whether Eastwood's own watch in the film was a Lucerne or a Timex, which no one answered, and in August 2026 a third wrote that the Lucerne was probably a film prop. Lucerne was a trade name applied to inexpensive Swiss-assembled watches rather than a maker, so the signature identifies the brand and nothing about the model or who assembled it; the prop reading is one poster's opinion without a production source.
