Lucerne was a trade name rather than a maker. Members of the NAWCC forums note that no Lucerne Watch Company existed, that the name of the Swiss city stayed unprotected as a watch trademark, and that it was applied to inexpensive watches assembled for many sellers, which is why the origin of any particular Lucerne-signed dial cannot be traced. (NAWCC Forums) The watch in Casino Royale (1967) is a black-dial skin diver with a rotating bezel, a date at 3 and a broad-arrow hand on a leather strap; a Forumamontres member read the capital L of the signature and matched it to a Lucerne skin diver, and Frédéric Liévain, author of James Bond, l'espion qui aimait les montres, confirmed the reading to another member.
