Tora-san, Wish You Were Here (男はつらいよ お帰り 寅さん) is a 2019 Japanese comedy-drama directed by Yoji Yamada, the 50th and final entry in the Otoko wa Tsurai yo series that ran from 1969, marking its 50th anniversary. Kiyoshi Atsumi, who died in 1996, appears as the itinerant peddler Torajiro "Tora-san" Kuruma through archival footage woven into new scenes, as his nephew Mitsuo Suwa (Hidetaka Yoshioka), now a novelist, reconnects with his first love Izumi (Kumiko Goto) while his aunt Sakura (Chieko Baisho) and uncle Hiroshi (Gin Maeda) look on. Mari Natsuki plays Ayako Hara and Chizuru Ikewaki plays Setsuko Takano, Mitsuo's editor, among new cast joining the franchise for its finale. The film opened December 27, 2019, and won the Japan Academy Prize for best editing. (Wikipedia)
