Jacques Deray directs this adaptation of Françoise Sagan's novel of the same name, scripted by Jean-Claude Carrière. Gilles Lantier, a journalist adrift in a deep depression, is drawn back toward life by a married woman, Nathalie Silvener, who genuinely loves him, before the affair's consequences catch up with them both.
