Wonder Woman finds herself battling two opponents, Maxwell Lord, a shrewd entrepreneur, and Barbara Minerva, a friend-turned-foe. Meanwhile, she also ends up crossing paths with her love interest. Directed by Patty Jenkins and released in 2020, the sequel jumps its heroine forward to Cold War-era 1984 Washington, D.C., where Diana Prince works quietly at the Smithsonian until an artefact that grants wishes returns Steve Trevor to her and hands a failing oil promoter the power to remake the world. It is a period-appropriate look rather than a period-correct watch: the A168W arrived after the film's 1984 setting, so a pilot from another era ends up on a wrist that is also slightly out of its own time.
