Anna and Jörg Winger created this Cold War spy drama, the first German-language series to air on American television when SundanceTV picked it up in June 2015. Set the year NATO's Able Archer 83 exercise nearly triggered a Soviet nuclear response, the eight-episode season follows young NVA soldier Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay), recruited by East German foreign intelligence and sent West under the cover identity Moritz Stamm to infiltrate the West German army. Maria Schrader plays Lenora Rauch, Martin's aunt and HVA handler, officially the East German embassy's cultural attaché in Bonn and in practice the officer running his cover from behind a desk.
