Generation Kill (2008)

From IMWDb
Generation Kill

HBO's seven-part 2008 miniseries, adapted by David Simon and Ed Burns from Rolling Stone reporter Evan Wright's embedded account of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It follows the Marines of 1st Reconnaissance Battalion through the opening weeks of the war, treating their gear, jargon and boredom with documentary exactness. (IMDb)

Casio CMD-40
Worn by Alexander Skarsgård as Sgt. Brad "Iceman" Colbert. Colbert, the fastidious team leader who reads intelligence reports for relaxation, wears a square Casio digital with a full calculator keypad across the miniseries. The layout matches the CMD-40, the Remote Control watch whose module also works a television from the wrist, a fitting piece of characterization for the Iceman, and consistent with the production's insistence on accurate kit. The identification is probable rather than confirmed: the keypad and case are legible on screen, but the red infrared window and "wrist remote controller" text that would clinch the CMD-40 over a plain databank sibling are not resolvable in frame.
