Ultraman Tiga (ウルトラマンティガ) is the eighth series in Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra Series, made with the Mainichi Broadcasting System for the franchise's thirtieth anniversary and broadcast across 52 episodes from September 7, 1996 to August 30, 1997, the first new Ultraman television series in fifteen years. Set in a world of its own rather than the old continuity, it follows Daigo Madoka of the defence team GUTS, who merges with a giant of light found in an ancient pyramid; Tiga was the first Ultraman to change fighting types and colours mid-battle, and its success carried the franchise through Ultraman Dyna and Ultraman Gaia.
