The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is the dive watch Blancpain presented in 1953, developed with the French combat divers Robert Maloubier and Claude Riffaud, whose unidirectional timing bezel, luminous markers on a black dial and screw-down water resistance set the formula that later divers followed; its name is the depth of about ninety metres its first examples were rated for. Blancpain relaunched the line in 2007 around a 45 mm automatic with a sapphire bezel insert, the Fifty Fathoms Automatique, added the slimmer Bathyscaphe branch in 2013 and a 42 mm Automatique in 2023, and the current collection also carries a titanium Fifty Fathoms Tech; the pictured watch is the 42 mm steel Automatique, reference 5010 1130 71S.
