The Breguet Marine 5817ST is the steel big-date model of the Marine, the sports line Breguet names for its founder's post as chronometer maker to the French navy. Its 39 mm case has a fluted band and crown guards, the dial a wave-pattern guilloché centre under a Roman chapter ring with a large date at six, and the automatic calibre 517GG runs for 65 hours behind a sapphire back. The pictured example, listed by its dealer as 5817ST/12/5V8, has a black guilloché dial with a silver rim on a rubber strap. (SwissWatchExpo; Economic Review)
