Breguet descends from Abraham-Louis Breguet's Paris workshop of 1775, where his tourbillon, pare-chute shock protection, guilloché dials, open-tipped hands, and distinctive numerals still define the house's technical and visual vocabulary. His most famous commission, watch No. 160 for Marie-Antoinette, took 44 years to complete: ordered in 1783, it was still unfinished when Breguet died in 1823, and his son Louis-Antoine completed it in 1827.
