The Eterna Kon-Tiki is the dive watch Eterna introduced in 1958, taking its name from Thor Heyerdahl's 1947 balsa-raft expedition across the Pacific after members of the crew wore Eterna watches on the voyage. The line has always leaned on the house's own signature engineering: Eterna's 1948 ball-bearing rotor, five steel balls set into a barillet-shaped race to reduce friction on the automatic winding mechanism, is commemorated in the five dots on the modern Eterna logo. (Eterna)
Eterna revived the Kon-Tiki repeatedly, in round and cushion cases, with quartz and automatic movements, so a screen sighting without a stated reference supports the line rather than one execution.
