The Grand Seiko 62GS Ref.6245-9000 was Grand Seiko's first automatic model, introduced in 1967 on the strength of the new 35-jewel caliber 6245, and stayed in production barely two years before the 61GS and 5646-series calibers superseded it. Seiko had marketed the preceding 62-series Seikomatic movement as a "chronometer," prompting an objection from the Swiss chronometry association over the unregulated use of the term; Seiko's response was to found its own in-house "Grand Seiko Standard" testing regime and drop "Chronometer" from 62GS dials entirely, an early declaration of horological independence the brand still points to. The 36 mm steel case pairs a silver dial reading "Grand Seiko Diashock" with a date window at three, and was fitted with either a lion-medallion or Grand Seiko-medallion caseback depending on production date. Jackroad's costume-loan archive credits Ken Mitsuishi's detective Toru Kaneko, Miura's returning colleague in Cold Case 3, with the reference, a different watch from the Tudor Prince Oysterdate his character wore in the second season.
