Heuer Monaco
More actions
The Heuer Monaco launched in 1969 as a Heuer, before the firm became TAG Heuer in 1985, pairing a square, water-resistant case with one of the first automatic chronograph movements, the Calibre 11 (later 12) family, identifiable by its left-mounted winding crown. Period executions varied the dial color and register layout across several references, from the blue-dialed 1133B Steve McQueen wore in Le Mans (1971) to grey- and black-dialed 1133- and 1533-series examples, so no single reference stands for the pre-1985 run. Jackroad's costume-loan archive credits Satoshi Hashimoto with a "Heuer Monaco" for Zenkamono, WOWOW's 2021 drama based on the manga by Masahito Kagawa and Toji Tsukishima, naming the vintage Heuer generation without a reference. Modern Monaco sightings belong on TAG Heuer Monaco. (Monochrome)
