Monet watch
More actions
A Monet watch is a watch sold under the name of Monet, the Providence, Rhode Island costume-jewelry house the Chernow brothers launched in 1937 out of their Monocraft monogram business, whose gold- and silver-tone quartz watches were sold beside its chains and earrings at department-store jewelry counters from the 1980s. (Antique Trader) The catalog knows one: the gold-tone quartz with Roman numerals that Katey Sagal wears as Peggy Bundy in Married... with Children, whose caseback reads "Base Metal Bezel / Stainless Steel Back / Monet / Japan Mov't", the house's standard legend, which names no model; no frame or product photograph of that watch has been sourced, so the page carries the unidentified mark rather than another Monet's picture.
