Omega Genève

The Omega Genève name first appeared on Omega dress watches around 1952, honoring the brand's precision results in observatory chronometry competitions; at the time it ranked among Omega's better dress lines, second only to the Constellation. (Set Back in Time) By the late 1960s the Genève name had shifted downmarket into an accessible everyday range positioned beneath the Seamaster and Constellation, spanning steel and gold-plated automatics on Omega's own calibers 550, 565, 613, 1002, 1012 and 1022 as well as hand-wound models, so the "Genève" signature on the dial identifies the range rather than one movement or case design. Omega retired the name in 1979, a casualty of Swiss trademark rules requiring a manufacturer to keep an active Geneva presence to put "Genève" on a dial, after its own Geneva factory had closed by 1967. (Vintage Watch Studio) Neither cataloged appearance is identified to a specific reference or generation: director Kim Yeol (Song Kang-ho) wears a vintage Omega Genève in Cobweb (2023), per the Korean retailer that supplied it for the production.
