The Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022-69 ST is a 1969 execution using the manual-winding Lemania-based caliber 861, which replaced the caliber 321 that flew on Apollo 11 with a movement from the same designer, Albert Piguet, whose architecture Omega kept largely unchanged for decades. Collectors call this execution "straight writing" for a caseback engraved in straight lines rather than the arc later 145.022 casebacks use; post-Moon examples add "THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON" to that engraving after the 1969 lunar landing. Its 42 mm steel case, black dial, and tachymeter bezel remain the direct ancestor of the modern Speedmaster Professional.
