Record Kenya Army
More actions
Record, the Tramelan, Switzerland manufacturer later absorbed into Longines, supplied simple hand-wound field watches to several Commonwealth-linked African militaries in the 1960s, following the same "W.W.W." (Watch, Wrist, Waterproof) pattern Britain's Ministry of Defence specified for its own issue: a black dial with high-contrast Arabic numerals and a railroad minute track, a luminous triangle-tipped hour hand, a plain steel case on fixed strap bars, and a broad-arrow property mark on the case back for issue to Kenya's army. Because these were military contract pieces rather than catalogued civilian references, surviving examples are identified by their case-back markings rather than a Record model number.
