The Rolex Milgauss is the crown's antimagnetic tool watch, developed for engineers, physicists, and CERN-adjacent researchers whose instruments could throw off an ordinary movement, its calibre sealed inside a soft-iron Faraday cage rated to the thousand gauss, roughly a thousand times the Earth's own field, that gives the line its name (mille plus gauss). The 1956 ref. 6541 introduced the orange lightning-bolt seconds hand every later execution keeps, and the long-running ref. 1019 carried the line for nearly three decades until Rolex discontinued it in 1988. A 2007 revival returned the Milgauss as ref. 116400, sold with a conventional clear sapphire crystal over a black or white dial, alongside the green-tinted "Glace Verte" ref. 116400GV, whose crystal tint has never been repeated on another Rolex; production later consolidated onto the 116400GV alone, in black, white, and Z-Blue dials, before Rolex retired the line again in 2023. Because a plain dial-color description does not on its own separate the clear crystal from the green one, an appearance whose crystal is not independently confirmed is cataloged on this family page rather than assigned to a specific reference.
