The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss is the crown's antimagnetic watch, launched in the mid-1950s for scientists and engineers (CERN staff among them), and named for the thousand gauss it was built to shrug off, achieved by sealing the movement inside a soft-iron Faraday cage. Reference 116400GV is the 2007 revival: a 40 mm polished steel Oyster case with a smooth bezel, an orange lightning-bolt seconds hand carried over from the 1950s reference 6541, a dateless and unusually symmetrical dial, and a green-tinted sapphire crystal, the glace verte that gives the reference its letters and has never been repeated on another Rolex.
