The Seagull 1963 reissues China's first domestically designed chronograph, developed under the Ministry of Light Industry's classified "Project 304" after the Tianjin Watch Factory, now Seagull, bought the tooling and blueprints for the Swiss Venus 175 column-wheel chronograph caliber and adapted them into the ST19 movement over more than two years of development. The original entered Air Force service in 1963; Seagull's modern reissue, sold since the early 2010s, reproduces the period dial and bubble sapphire crystal over the manually wound ST19, retailing at roughly ¥4,980 in its standard execution.
